Daisy B cutaway (aubergine)
Ages ago I made some hats like this, with a cut away and bow, and they seem to sell very well. I created the cloche form 8 mm cotton/acrylic chenille braid and then cut away a portion of the brim. It requires dabbing tiny bit of glue on the chainstitching where it is cut. The velvet bias looks great and covers up that raw edge. The bow is a wool felt. This one is not a deep crown, so won't come down way low on the head, which some of you prefer. The brim can be moved up and down for alternate looks.
The braid is a dense weave, so it is windproof. The rain and snow doesn't affect the hat at all, just need to place it somewhere to dry when get home as it doesn't necessarily repel moisture. The winter hats I always use an elastic band inside, it is nice and soft and adds to size flexiblity.
